At Range we are constantly pushing ourselves into new realms and we get exited when we are expanding our range. Creating an installation for ‘Tjalling Wolthuis Gedenksieraden’ in which their memorial jewelry could take center stage was one of those projects that would do just that. With a bold but elegant installation we wanted to attract the attention of visitors at the funeral business fair and it surely turned out to be a great journey in unknown territory that paid off.

Together with the client we identified the goals, requirements, wishes and necessary brackround to give shape and direction to the look and feel of the installation. Tjalling Wolthuis Gedenksieraden is a company specialising in memorial jewelry and art objects. Exsisting for almost 90 years the company has a very rich history. Needless to say there was an abundance of inspiration to be found, for us to create an installation that would inspire and engage key audiences.

Tjalling Wolthuis Gedenksieraden operates in a traditional field of expertise, but with their craftsmanship, open mind and artistry they have been pushing the boundaries of expectation and truly are the pioneers within the memorial keepsake industry. To highlight their story we wanted an installation that would showcase their herritage as well as their future vision.

The design uses a couple simple elements; 3 walls, 11 pedestals, three mirrors and 1 house colour. With 16m2 to work with, we wanted something simple that would still make great impact. Using the house colour blue in a vertical gradient on both the pedestals, floor and walls, we immediately created a cohesive and elegant look for the jewelry to shine in. Symbolising the impact they make in their industry, the gradient starts at the pedestals, softly flowing into the rest of the space.

“ Three suspended mirrors above the pedestals invite visitors to pause and look at the jewelry and objects from different angles while also making the space look bigger.”

At Range we value sustainability and reuse of materials and therfor we selected MuseumGoed as a partner to provide us with the exhibition material and made our design come to life with their craftsmanship.

“MuseumGoed is a platform that focuses on enabling more sharing and reuse of exhibition materials within the museum sector. MuseumGoed effectively brings together supply and demand, need and availability of materials and ensures that the exhibition sector can deal more efficiently with the items that are already there. With that aim in mind, MuseumGoed manages a collective stock of museum exhibition materials in the Netherlands.” -MuseumGoed
